Vote Now for the 2024 National High School Fall Boys and Girls Soccer Player of the Year

As 2024 comes to a close, High School on Sports Illustrated is shining a spotlight on some of the top athletes from the best teams across the country in fall sports. Now, it's your turn to help decide which standout players deserve the honor of being named the National High School Soccer Player of the Year in the boys' and girls' categories.

There are 25 nominees in the boys' category and 20 nominees in the girls' category. Voting is open until Thursday, Jan. 23, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. In both categories, you'll find stories about each athlete and their impressive achievements.

The district is proud to announce that the top male and female nominees representing New Mexico are students from Las Cruces Public Schools:

  • Evan Kraenzel, a senior midfielder from Centennial High School, tallied 23 goals and 11 assists this season, leading his team to the Class 5A state title.

    Cast Your Vote: Boys category

  • Mia Barela, who closed her senior season at Las Cruces High School with 31 goals and 74 points. With Barela leading the charge, the Bulldawgs placed second in Class 5A.
