Juniors and Seniors are eligible to be selected for NHS if they have a 3.625 GPA are examples of the National Honors Society character pillars, have a recommendation letter written, and write an essay explaining why they demonstrate qualities of the pillar characteristics. These pillars include characteristics such as Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Through the National Honor Society, you are given numerous community service opportunities such as dedicating time at the soup kitchen, helping local elementary schools teach children how to ride bikes, get the Salvation Army ready to distribute free community Christmas gifts, and keep the community clean by having trash pick up days. Each member is required to gain 15 hours of community service per semester, 7.5 being out of chapter events, and 7.5 being in chapter events. You also get to learn new things by listening to monthly speakers at one of the two monthly meetings. National Honor Society is an excellent way to make a positive impact on the community!
